"During the implementation of the '98 Ice Storm Community Recovery Grant, Bath's community trees were assessed regarding their overall health and potential hazard. Those that were assessed as being hazardous, using the International Society of Arboriculture's 12-point assessment protocol, were removed."

" These harvested trees were then assigned different end results. Some trees were so deteriorated, that the wood was taken to a drum-chipper in West Bath to be chipped."

"Other trees that were more sound, but very structurally damaged were processed for the Bath fire wood program. The remaining trees that again were structurally unsound, but still had a fair marketable value were stored in Bath's Oak Grove Cemetery. These trees have been sold to individuals for various reasons."

"There are some choice logs of ash, maple, oak, cherry, birch, pine, and spruce to name some. Local artist Andreas Von Huene selected some red oak, cottonwood, and ash for his animal sculptures, which are actually benches, to be installed in the new Town of Jay Middle School."

"On March 16th, a bright, sunny late-winter day, representatives of the Bath Forestry Division and the Bath Cemetery and Parks Department were invited out to Mr.Von Huene's studio to see the completed and almost completed works."
